I dissagree that the original boot can be removed and new/replacement boot
install WITHOUT removing the ring.........I carefully pryed slowly, repeatedly, round and round on bottom edge of ring to pry it up and off the ball joint.......and still had to deburr it abit before reinstalling .....Also used a small diameter flapper wheel to polish ID of Retaining Ring....

I'd sure like a part number at ZIP Corvette or Corvette Central to find a correct replacement rubber boot , but I will search myself.............
