Your date decode is spot on.
That originally came out of a 1968 Oldsmobile. 3-Oldsmobile Division 8-Model year,1968 M-Lansing Mi. Assembly plant-(Oldsmobile specific) 374837-Looks like a Cutlass 442 Sequential production number.
