Hand me down from my mom then sister to me. 1976 burnt orange Plymouth Volare with a 318. Decently quick....burned rubber better in reverse. 2 things made it the happening car of my crowd.
1. My Dad represented Pioneer, so I had 3 way 6x9s in the rear, 6" door mounts, dash mounted tweeters, EQ with lights and 3 amps. Great stereo, but before the advent of the subwoofer. If i played Rush loud,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Geddy made your ears melt.....but no distortion. ![]() 2. Magnetic police cherry with cigarette lighter cord... Perfect for this car as they used Volares and Aspens for cop cars.......everyone loved it ...except the Cops who busted us and took it away. When we weren't pulling people over or nailing people making out, I used to come up to parties and do a 180 with the lights on and watch everyone scatter ![]() JG |

These had 455's and most had 2 brl carbs. First thing I did was put a 4 brl manifild and a rochester carb. 5.0 Mustangs were thing when I was in Highschool. But my old SX would take most of them. What a fun car. That thing would lay rubber with such eas....

My first was a 1974 Vega GT.
![]() My mother inquired if the car ran, it did and she gave him $300 bucks and I was riding. ![]() I was only able to keep it running for 6 months as it was on it's last leg way before I got it. My dad had a 1969 Kingswood Estate Wagon he was trying to sell, I begged and pleaded to buy it to use the powertrain, but he said no. Turned out a guy interested in buying heard me complaining about wanting the engine and trans and threw in a 350/350 drive train he had with nothing to put it in. I went from the laughing stock of the school parking lot to leader of the pack in 2 long greasy weeks. ![]() I will never forget that old Gold Terd, and I have been building my own rides ever since. ![]()

Mine was a '66 Biscayne. I bought it from the original owner in 1980 for $400. I sold it in 1984, but I still have my USA-1 plate.
![]() As I was replying to this, I heard a Chevy commercial on TV that said "Everyone's first car should be a Chevy"! Ironically, I had just noticed how many of the members here had a "Chevy" for their first car. ![]()
