I am curious why you would fiberglass the repaired floor section instead of doing the more 'correct' metal repair. It kind of seems out of place on a car which is mostly original or period correct.

The reason it was done that way is because when I pulled the original cracked rubber floor mat, the jute backing had fused to the floor boards in the very lowest part of the front floor pans. The wiper post seals leaked which is very common on these cars. Anyway, when I pulled the mat a sheet of the floor pan came off with it. It reduced the thickness of the floor pans in this area ONLY by about 1/2. The floor pans under the car in this area are just as virgin as the rest of the car and there is no indication of what happened. I fiberglassed this area for STRENGTH. I did not want the floor boards from the under side to show that they had been replaced. The only people that will ever see this will be someone that pulls the new floor mat. OTOH, I wanted to disclose it to any potential buyers. I would rather have someone pleasantly suprised when the see the actual car vs. pictures and discription.
