Default 1979 Chevrolet Scottsdale 454 Ballpark Price?

Not really Supercar related, but I know that you guys know your stuff when it comes to classic vehicles of all kinds. I fell in love with a co-workers pickup the first day I saw him roll into the parking lot with it. It is a 1979 Chevrolet Scottsdale LB 4x4 with the original 454 and heavy duty axles (14-bolt I beleive). The truck is a two-owner truck and has been in the area since new. I actually know both owners. I told him the first day I saw it that if he ever wanted to sell it to let me know. Well this afternoon he told me he wanted to get rid of it. I was wondering a ballpark on what you guys think this truck would be worth. Like I said numbers matching 454, auto tranny, and the heavy duty axles. The body is in all around good shape, decent paint, minimal surface rust in the bed sides. The truck runs and sounds good. I am still trying to get my 69 396 Nova done and am getting married in two months, which is why I am in a pickle. haha Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

------Im assuming you have looked at the cab corners and rockers and floors for rust. Those are the prevalent areas you should watch for. Remember, Mr.Rust is relentless . A good solid HD Chevy pick-um-up is always worth at least two grand......Bill S

Good deal guys. I looked it over pretty good, but am going to take a real good thorough look at it here this week sometime. I am getting a super deal on and I just don't think I can pass it up.

Well I pulled the trigger on the pickup. I couldn't pass up the deal. Turns out after a good long look and discussion with the owner, it is not the original 454 but rather a GM crate motor that was installed about 10 years ago and according to his very detailed records only has about 15,000 miles on it. Also the truck has about 3 year old Mickey Thompson Classic II's with good rubber on it as well. I gave the truck a thorough search and there are only two problem rust spots (which can be easily cut out and new metal welded in) on the whole truck. The frame is super solid, and the 4 wheel drive works like a charm. I will try to post some pictures for you guys tomorrow.

------Congrats,,,If Im not mistaken those Mickey Thompsons were made by Alcoa for M/T. They should be forged wheels, correct??? Best aftermarket wheels you can buy.......Bill S

Sorry for the late reply, but I was finally able to get some pictures of my new toy. It needs a couple small things but it runs like a top and overall I am pumped. Let me know what you think.

------Just me, but I would get rid of the steps and the mud-flaps before nightfall. All else looks OK. Good clean-up will make it yours......Bill s
