I'm almost postive I saw the car in question about 10yrs ago.
It was sitting in a condo carport with flat tires, dirty, like it had been parked there for quite some time. At the time I had no idea how rare it was, but I went and knocked on the door. Talked with the older owner who claimed he bought the car back in the 70s off a used car lot if I remember correctly. He definitely knew what he had and proceeded to show me the visible suction cup marks on the trunk lid. I made him an offer on the car, which he quickly rejected stating he's already turned down up to $60K. At the time I thought he was crazy. I was amazed that he could leave such a valuable car sitting out in the open like that. Would have been the find of a lifetime for me for sure.
