Here are some more pictures of my Nova. These were taken this past Friday 04/30/2010 at National Trail Raceway in Columbus, Ohio. Made about 5-6 passes down the track...

Rich

Had some fun in the burnout box with my Hurst Slicks!!

Grady was there also with his awesome Camaro....

Grady
Post the #'s, you got the time slips and I can't remember that far back
I made one pass before the slicks went on ( L60 Mickey T's) 13.50, it got way better after that, it pulls hard in 1st and 2nd, the car is very strong.

Mike, The best time we posted was a 12.39. I forget the mph. Slips are in the car. I will check later today.

Grady's Camaro was running well into the low-mid 12s... Mike's Camaro ran very well also.. I didn't set no land speed records with the Nova, but I wasn't trying to. They only had one lane opened so we could not race each other... Grady and Mike would have creamed me!!

I was pretty easy on her 14s-15s.... I was also breaking up a bit, I think the timing is a little advanced... I was also short shifting the car. In 1st gear I was shifting between 4,500-5,000 RPMS. Plus I came out of the hole very easy each time...

The car felt pretty strong in 1st and 2nd gear, Eric your carb worked great, the secondaries were working good.. What scared me was the first time I went down the track about 3/4 of the way down the rear end started making a loud thumping noise and my first thought was that one of the Hurst slick recaps was coming apart.

So I let off the gas and braked well before the traps... The car was also feeling funky each time in this same spot on the track at higher speeds.. Almost felt like it was on ice.. So this scared me also.. Last thing I need is to wreck the car or kill myself as my Wife watches..

The tires seemed to be fine. I think it might have been just flat spots somewhere in the tires because this was the first time I had the car out since winter storage.. This was the first time I had ever run this car at the track also. The driveline has some original components and the front end components are all original to the car and 40 years old.. It's just a bone stock 70 396/402 L78 motor, turbo 400 trans and a 373 12 bolt posi rear... Needless to say I was fearful of getting carried away and breaking something...

Was lots of fun.. My Wife even made a pass in the car.. She did just fine and did not red light!! She never ran at the track before... This was my first time since I was 17 -18 years old.. This can become addicting...

Rich

I noticed that these were on my engine for the Chevelle when I took it apart. They are Mr. Gasket bolts for the oil pan and timing cover.

I had a 12 bolt rear with a complete set of those Mr. Gasket bolts holding the diff cover on. Very cool!
