There was a very popular 1/12 scale radio controlled car made in the late 1970's of this car. It had a hard shell body, molded in yellow. I used to race 1/12 scale R/C back then, back when just when a few companies first started making dedicated 1/12 electric cars. The hobby was really booming. Anyway, these hard shell Corvette Spyder cars were not allowed to race in any club events, they were not really designed for competition (they were like a Tamiya car), but the Corvette was by an off brand company. It was a ready-to-run model, and it was one of the first electric R/C cars with proportional steering and variable speed. I'd havce to dig through some very old R/C Modeler magazines to find an ad for one of these.

I actually have a photo I took of of an original Motion spyder hood somewhere...it is gold in color. It actually has a spyder on it also. I wonder where the car is?? This was back in the late 80's I think, In the Baltimore area. If I can find it I will post it.

I posted a photo a few years ago of a very similar car may have been Red and gold that was in a mid late 70's magazine.

The yellow one pictured above is what they made an r/c car out of way back in the late 1970's. It wasn't a toy car from a K-Mart or anything like that, it was actually a competitive 1/12 scale car that ran at the R.O.A.R. (Radio Operated Auto racing) national events, but was quickly outdated when a company called Associated built serious 1/12 scale R/C electric road racing cars. I just happened to find some very old R/C Modeler magazines I had stashed away, and an old Tower Hobbies catalog (anyone remember that place?), and found an ad for this Corvette Spyder, made by a company called LaTrax. It was a popular race car in r/c clubs at the time, until Associated, BoLink, Parma, and some other companies began making more professional 1/12 scale racing cars.
