1970 camaro "hide away" windshield wipers
Trying to find some info on the elusive hide away windshield wiper arms and tramsmission assembly for my 1970 ss/rs L78 project. I have yet to see these in person and am beginning to wonder if I should just substitute regular arms and transmission (I can only assume it is different). Suggestions? Also, know anyone who can rebuild the wiper motor??

Re: 1970 camaro "hide away" windshield wipers
Compared to the standard wiper set up, everything is completely different, nothing interchanges from the dash switch to the blades . Also, note that the hide-away motor takes a special mounting plate to the firewall. Further, if you find a transmission linkage, make sure that the small pivot clip is included. Those are hard to come by.

Re: 1970 camaro "hide away" windshield wipers
Just about every Firebird had the retracting wiper setup standard, unless it was an ultra base model. So you may want to look at later Trans Ams 1970-81. The wiper motor itself changed in appearance after 74 or 75, I think. The early ones had the washer pump mounted on the wiper motor. The later ones had the pump mounted to the washer reservoir, itself, and as a result the wiper motor had a big flat section on its cover.
