Default Fire

I received a bad news call Friday morning from the man who provides me, and many other "car guys", with a great winter storage facility just outside of town. Sad scene, nothing is salvageable. I'm hoping to get some pictures of what is left of the Nova after things are cleaned up but may not be possible. On the up side, nobody was hurt and cars can be replaced.

I am sad to hear about your loss regarding the Nova. That is something us car guys dread to hear about as so many use off site storage.

Let's hope things go smoothly with the insurance side of the equation.

Any idea how many other muscle cars were lost?

Paul

Thanks for the kind words.

I'm guessing the muscle car count was around 10 or so (just based on what I remember seeing last fall and in other years), but it's hard to tell, since most stuff had car covers on when I stored the Nova. Going off memory there was a 72 Nova SS, 64 Plymouth, an original owner (paint etc.) 73 Mustang Convertible, some new muscle Mustangs, Challenger, GTO, and some antiques including a 57 Chev, some nice antique trucks, and a handful of motorcycles, boats and camper trailers, Miatas etc. I'm sure there was a few more muscle cars but that's all I can think of at the moment. There was also some regular cars/suvs owned by people who live here seasonally.

Will update you when I know more.

I am sorry to hear about the fire and the losses to the owners of the cars and vehicles that were stored there. My thoughts are with you and the other owners, including the building owner, over the losses.

The building owner felt terrible, he was quite upset about it. He checked the building every day, and as luck would have it it burned through the night. He was a good caretaker, I'd have no problem going back to one of his other buildings.

What a terrible ordeal to go through calling each & every car owner to break the news. Sincere condolences.

Did you have to sign a waiver to the landlord saying the the renter was supplying their own comp/collision on their own cars? I hope none of the renters try to sue the landlord. Sorry for everyone's loss.
