With M22Mikey's inspiration, I decided to keep at it and eventually, all the wires ended up attached to something. Go figure, everything works!!! I know, I should just end here and sell it. But, seein's how I'm on the home stretch I might as well just finish it up. All the wiring is routed where it needs to be, and now that I tested it all I can go back and wrap it all up in the old tyme style asphalt covered cloth wrap. Inner fenders are painted and mounted up, and the gastank is in.
![]() ![]() ![]() I added an old Delco style decal to the battery (which I mounted in the engine bay like a later style) and will be making a custom over for the top that'll feature the fill caps. With the inner fender mounted, I could route the wires where I wanted them to go and sort of see how the whole package is looking in the engine bay. Now, time to hide that heater valve and newer style heater... Cheers Dave |

Don't be worrying about the left over holes in the firewall, and the surface rust on the u-joint on the steering column. All will be taken care of! Sooooo..in wanting to make sure no aftermarket things are staring you in the face, I decided to hide the GenII Heat/Defroster behind the old beehive heater cover. Also, I mounted the heater control valve right beside the core and made a cover that's attached to the original one. I painted this in the old hammertone finish, and added the Recirc Decal too! I'll add another one that has the part number on it. Why not? I'm getting all dorky with mixing all the years up, might as well max out on the dorkness! I'm not sure if that's a word or not, so we'll move on. I mounted the controls for the heater in the dash and will eventually replace those knobs with the maroon ones that match the cowl vent and shifter handle. I think it'll tie in the whole dash. The column will be painted black. I just haven't gotten there yet!
![]() ![]() ![]() The last picture is the stock heater. I'm not done with the details on the aluminum trim panels yet. I need to hand paint the logos on all three panels, then clearcoat it. The defroster ducts round up and out of the top of this heater cover so they aren't see when you look inside. Cheers |

And since I have the '49 truck to finish up, my '69-1/2 A12 Super Bee to restore (with a deadline 1yr away!), and a mezzanine to build in the shop in December, what's one to do? Buy another truck, that's what!!!!! I found this little gem out in Denver and it's 100% rust free. It's the last year for the Art Deco style trucks, 1946. This just gets driven around until the Bee is done next year. Or I find a good Saginaw 4spd to swap into it to make it an easier driver. And paint so it's shiney....maybe some new bed side stake wood......a 12V conversion.....so yeah, nothing planned immediately. Looking good Dave.
I like the idea of piling another project on top of the unfinished ones. That is how I role anyway. You have to have something old to drive at all times. Keep up the good work. Phil |

Thanks guys! I was able to round out last month on a productive note with the interior just about buttoned up! The doors are complete minus the glass, window channels, and door panels. All that's left inside is the headliner, door panels, gas pedal, parking brake pedal, and to paint the steering column. I'm still searching out a radio and think I have it narrowed down to one.

As far as something going wrong -- it can happen ... that is the reason we put destruct bottons on missiles!!! TAZ
