Made it home safe on Saturday night. On the way down, I-71 was shut down in Sparta, KY which put us behind about three hours for the Meet N Greet. Once we arrived, everyone jumped in to help unload my truck so we could get the BBQ rollin! We ate a little late but the food went quick. Thanks for all the nice comments about the food. I was stressin’ when I rolled up and saw all the people ready to eat! We had some leftovers that we were able to heat up at the track for a snack as we waited for the rain to move out.
Had a great time cooking and thanks to everyone that help get me set up. Really shows what these events are all about. My car ran a 12.55 @116 mph. I’ll take it for a rookie driver. I missed a couple of gears and forgot to let go of the line lock on a few passes! All good fun! [img]<<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/ ![]() The banquet was great! Congrats to Dennis Cumby on being recognized as the 2016 honoree. His acceptance speech was all about the people. And Kim Howie got up and told a great story from years past. Had the crowd in tears! BTW Kim, I still have your sign. Send me your address and I will drop it in the mail. Doug Perry did a great job as the MC. It was great seeing folks from around the country and I met a few more! On the way home we hit another accident and 1-I-71 was closed again. As we passed the mangled camper being towed away, I remembered that someone is having a much worse day than me. Thanks again to Tom, Doug and Jamie for letting me be a part of the event. Can’t wait to next year. ![]() ![]()
