Chuck, we installed three of these doors, they are all 36x80 hung inside their own frame. The frame can be dismantled for install in an existing opening. The door frame can expand up to 10 inches.
It opens outward for security but primarily fire and building code. I think the brand is Accurate Door, which is a local manufacture. Its not carried by the big box stores. Ours were acquired locally though an outfit, Jacks Building Supplies. Additional hardware we installed were automatic closer and double Medeco locks.
