Corvette Knock-Off Wire Wheels & Goodyear F70-15 Custom Wide Treads
I recently went to look at a survivor 65 L79 Corvette, the 2nd owner of over 40 yrs lived 3 miles from me. I am trying to identify these knock off wire wheel's that were on the car.
I also would like to confirm the date of these F70-15 Goodyear custom wide treads with white stripe. F70-15 Custom Wide Tread US01571. Last edited by 69L78; 01-11-2021 at 10:11 AM. |

Hi Jeff, the wheels are non OEM. Maybe a dealer option or aftermarket?

----Jeff,,, The wheels are positively Dayton Wire Wheels. I have owned several sets over the years. Are the spinners and adapters there as well? GM used Dayton's on some of their show cars over the years and I believe they might have actually been an option on Corvairs at some point!.....Bill S

Yes, they are complete with adapters, if I am able to make a deal on the car, they will be for sale or trade.

Bill,
GM did offer real wire wheels for the 62-64 Corvairs. Approx 400 sets. My 64 Spyder Convert came with them. They were not Dayton's, They are Kelsey Hayes

----Thanks! I stand corrected. I have seen Corvair wire wheels and they have a striking resemblance to Dayton's. It almost makes me think there was some crossing over between the two.....Bill S
