Graeme, FWIW - You May want to hold off on any primer or colour until you trial fit that hood into your opening. A lot of times those old Fiberglass hoods need material added ( or removed ) to the side & front edges to close up the gaps. We saw that a lot at Western Corvette with the A&A & other manufacturers on Corvette hoods, some of the gaps were brutal wide and not consistent. The repo crossram hoods are sometimes the same in that they need material added along the edges to maintain consistency at fenders and front of hood. Guess it depends how fussy you are.
