Stuff like that makes me realize just how much of a consumer culture we live in. Throw-away culture too. My dad rubbed off on me in that I am always trying to fix things that break or wear out even when it probably just makes sense to buy a new one because I don't want to be "wasteful". My sister is just the opposite - I used to go over to her place and pick through all the perfectly good "stuff" that she was tossing just because it had something wrong with it that it easily fixable. |
