The car was pretty nice other than missing the drivetrain. I had the money earmarked for something else but wanted to help him get back into a Camaro. I didn't have a place to keep it so instead of me buying it and parking it until he paid me for it, I let him keep it and said if he ever sold it I had right of first refusal. Yep, I was young and stupid. Next time I saw him, the car was gone and I never got my money. It still sucks pretty bad thinking about it all these years later.
My father (RIP) always told me one of the quickest ways to lose a friend was to lend them money. And that if you couldn’t afford to GIVE it to them, don’t LEND it to them. Now, I know that isn’t 100% true 100% of the time, but more often than not, he was right.
“Lend money=Lose friends”.
