Look at the picture with the trunk open. You can see how the new quarter was installed.

Looks like they were trying to retain the 1970-only square impression in the jamb under the door striker by attaching a re-pop quarter shell TO it. You need a person who knows their way around a TIG welder to attempt something like that. Not a good look.
