Default Polar Chevrolet Super Car

Would you consider a dealer-converted engine swap to be a Super Car even if this may have been the only car they did?

I would vote 'yes'. Stripes, decals, and other visuals were really not what made a 'Supercar', it was the engine.

Definitely, and I'd love to see the Chevelle in the ad. Anyone have any leads on it or is it a known car?

I would say yes, as Yenko, Gibb and others, started the supercar movement with dealer conversions. Polar was in my "neighborhood" and was there often looking or buying the occasional part. I never knew of a '68 conversion, but I was only 16 at that time. A HS friend bought an L78 300 Chevelle new there in '69.
The dealership is still there, just went by it a few days ago. I was on a test ride with my family in 1966, as my Dad wanted a Chevelle and we rode in a Marina blue hardtop. No he didn't buy it, he bought an Aztec Bronze hardtop from Champion Chev instead.
