I thought I would reach out to get some help, before having some traction bars made up for my car (nickey type) or find ones that would have been on the last month 68 camaro very early 69 nickey sold camaros from that time.
I had a guy and his wife tell me the ones they had were 'mine' (on marketplace) and they dragged it out for 6 months before deciding to keep them. I will spare you all their tactics of that. So I lost 6 months and now am starting over. My nickey sold 68z has some ratty bars on it (dont want to restore them really), from don swiatak, the person (racing parts manager) that helped outfit the car with racing components (crossram, headers, sway bar..). He threw in the deal to the new owner (a sponsered racer for nickey), some freebies from a traction bar startup was pushing to Nickey. So those are on the car he got for free. It must have been around july 68 when my car came in, other traction bar offerings were coming on the scene more than the Nickey ones is my guess at that time. I would like to have the nickey ones as I could put that cool sticker on them like I see some of the Nickey cars have. If anyone knows where an existing set could be forsale, I would appreciate the help. On the other hand, if someone said in late 68 more cars from Nickey had a different type, I would also consider that. Just trying to make up the lost time.... -bob Last edited by black69; 06-12-2025 at 01:46 AM. |

If the bars on the car now are from Nickey originally and sold by Don - I think I'd try and clean up and re-use them. From a "historically cool" perspective they belong on the car..............JMHO
