Default 70 LS-6 engine question

Have the chance to get a LS-6 that came out of a 70 Chevelle 15+ years ago. Never been touched motor.
This is a long time friend so I have no doubt of originality.
What we want to know is:
What's is worth?
Just core price? or is it worth more cause it is a LS-6?
I don't want to get over on him and he doesn't want to get over on me.

Default Re: 70 LS-6 engine question

It is worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
So much has to be considered like:
How complete is it.
Short block,Long block.
Is it ready to fire.
Does it have to be gone through.
Has it been bored.
Are all the components still attached, carb,Ex. manifolds,Intake,Alternator,Water pump, etc. All these parts are very sought after as well.

And is there a VIN# stamped in the pad behind the Alternator on the Deck pad.
If so,you should seek that Chevelle out,as that owner would probably love to reunite the Engine with his Chevelle today. This is being done more and more lately. And yes he would probably pay top dollar for it over others.
