Wow! That's one of the nicest 1967's I've seen for sale in awhile. Anyone want to hazard a guess as to how many there are of that caliber around? Dan

Its been a long time since I discussed any details about this car and if I'm remembering it correctly the dealership was located right in "Detroit City" and it was drag raced in the stock class. The restoration was done near Lansing by Scott Teiman. I trailered this car back there once for Al after it was already completed. On this visit I assisted Al Maynard and Scott Teiman with tech advice and technique for correcting a few details on this 67/Z28 before the Camaro Nationals where it did win several awards including the Vince!
This car would of been a fine example for possibly getting a 'Diamond' award the first time out. Scott did a fantastic job! Yes! That is the 1968 Z28 convertible there in the back ground in Al's shop. |

found the photos haven't seen this since Camaro nationals when my brother found it and called me. I met Al there and it brought back many fond memories of 1970-1979 lots of racing on Woodward and even 1 trip to Detroit Dragway took a trophy that day nicest 67 of the 135 survivors. Still had all options when sold. tilt, AM-FM rear speaker, power steering and brakes, full tint glass, console with gauge pack & tach. Bought another 67 RS 4 speed to fill the void but it's not the same as the real thing!

PaulT,
Very cool. Could you post some pics of the car back when you owned it? I'm sure most guys here would appreciate seeing them and hearing any of your old war stories about the car. -Jon 1967 Z28 street car 1967 Z28 Trans Am race car 1967 Z28 Registry |

I will try to find some of the old photos if possible I did give Al some when he first restored the car. I do remember having a news clipping of the car at the 68 auto show at Cobo Hall Detroit. At that time they had fabbed a complete Corvette IRS rear end onto the camaro but later put it back to stock because the car didn't launch as good at the strip. I do have a photo of it pulling the front wheels just off at the 68 Indy Nationals. I remember having the right rear axle pad re-welded to the tube due to a crack that was leaking after one night racing Woodward. I guess winding that little motor to 6500 and power shifting was a little too much but it wound to 7000 with not a wimper. Boy do I miss that as my current 67 RS has a 406 and sure doesn't like anything over 5800 but has tons of torque not like having to launch that MO at 2800 and slip the clutch just to keep it from stalling. I will see if I can scan some photos and give you guys some more stories.
