Frank,

To be honest with you, I ordered the tires before I got the wheels. The wheels are from a friend who sold them BRAND new to me for $300. He was going to e-bay them, until I stopped by. The whole day 2 thing caught my eye so I thought I would modify my cruising car. I did not even bother to look at the vintage style tires. I will have to dig up those pictures of your Chevelle Frank, and then re-think what I am trying to accomplish. Thanks guys.

Dan thats cool. Cool to see that more people are going the day 2 route. IMO day 2 is in the details. Adding Cragers, Keystones, or Torque Thrusts to a car isn't day 2ing a car. That is just adding a set of wheels to a stock car. Go all the way! Come on man you USED to actually own a day 2 Camaro back on day 2! Frank,

I love the tires that are your Chevelle. I called up Mickey Thomson and the smallest tire for the Indy series is a 255. Those tires are going to be too big for the Camaro. Unless I missed something or said something wrong, I don't think they make them smaller. What are some other period correct tires that are still reproduced? I love the
wide-o-ovals, but from Coker they are a bit pricey! Any suggestions?

A 255/60/R15 will fit nicely in the rear wheelwells (I've even had them in front, depending on the backspace and the front spring height etc...) 275/60/R15's will fit if you want to go wider, but the backspace has to be "right-on" and some lowered cars will rub if you don't bat roll the fenders... But you will be safe with 255's on the rear of a '70. Oh yeah, Pro Tracs come in 235/60/r15's from Coker tire

Dan what do you consider to big for tires on your Camaro? Have you tried Summitt racing for the Mickeys? Thay were the cheapest when I bought them. Even some old Goodyears would look killer with your Keystones. Protracs?

that's exactly what i'm doing to my 72 camaro.if you open up the hood it's like looking back in time.i've got the fiberglass flexilite green fan,edelbrock TM-1 intake ,old holley 850dp,oem metal fuel line with a fuel block, cal custom valve covers, fly eye air cleaner and no stainless or braided line anywhere.the interior has sun blue line gauges and tach .i'm running ralley wheels but looking for ansen sprint mags 15x10 and 15x4 in good condition.right now as a daily driver i get alot of compliments or thumbs up from people who remembered them like that [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif[/img]

I used Mickey Thompson L/60 15's with a 1/2 in. spacer for shock clearance on the rear. I have Gabriel Hijackers on just to basically level out the ride. [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif[/img] sam

Sam I also have the same size rear tries and the Gabriel Hijackers as well.

Another nice addition is a vintage ET finned Diff cover. I got one and installed it on my Chevelle.

it's funny to over on the sgcog board they think i'm crazy for running such an outdated intake manifold. everyone says you'll be much happier running the edelbrock performer rpm air gap.some people think you need all the today's technology to go fast NOT!!! LOL.i also am thinking of installing my swap-meet find of the century "hookers 4 into 1 sidepipes the black oxide ones.i just have to get the car a little higher off the ground. I have pair of 15x8.5 Ansen slots with 4 new repo chrome caps for $250 shipping. Absolutely flawless no curb damage or lug nut damage whatsoever.

You know the crowing touch will be the addition of the Lakewood ladder bars. I know your concerned about drilling holes in the frame but that's what welders are for if you decide to take them off. Besides whoever restored your car may have welded up holes from the original set that thta may have been on the car in the past. Did you get the ET cover from where I said they were available?
