Jason,
Please ask the owner why the rear sway bar brackets are not welded to the frame and if he still has the original brackets.
Original rearend would be nice if he still has that.

Thanks.
Rick

Rick,
I believe the rear sway bar was bolted on with two bolts on each side. 2nd Gen cars with rear bars had a threaded holes in the rear frame rails. The repo rails are available both ways. I might be wrong about the 71's but I have a 72 & 74 and that is how the factory bar is mounted on them.

Ray,
The '70 and '71 rear sway bar upper attachement brackets are welded to the frame rails. I have a '70 Z28 project car with the brackets still attached and they are welded to the frame rails. We have a customers '71 Z in the shop and the brackets are welded on that car as well. That is the way I have seen them on the 70 and 71 Z/28 models.

I talked to the owner today. The brackets are welded to the rear frame. The engine casting number is 3970010 which is a common block and is factory 4 bolt main.

What is the redline on the tach. It appears to have the correct single big fuel line.
This stuff was probably replaced; something’s fishy about this car, Friend or not
if I were you I would wash my hands of this car and have him sell it and deal with
lawyers that will soon follow.

I have to agree with Mark and I believe that myself and a few others have pointed out some serious flaws in this supposedly Z/28. I was very interested in this car but do not believe what I have seen or told so will keep looking.

You can believe your friend or not but those sway bar brackets are absolutely NOT correct. He said he removed the floor mounted gas pedal because he didn't like it?? One of the true selling and correct features of a 1970 or 71 Z/28 and he removed it?? I just have a hard time believing that.

This is the last thing I am going to point out then bow out from this because it is obviously falling on deaf ears. The wheels shown in the pictures are also NOT correct. The wheels shown are the later versions, 1977-81. But why would that be any different?

Good luck with the sale.

Rick H.

Well, I thought I was done but I wanted to post a picture of what a real upper sway bar attachement bracket looked like. This is located on a 1971 Z/28. Never been touched.
