Per our records, 19 owners is indeed the most for a single Yenko Deuce!

Al, I am the owner of the Citrus Green Deuce you once owned. I did in fact contact you back in '97 when I was conducting a history search which took over five months. With the information you and all the other owners provided, I was able to compile the vehicle's history. The car was titled 16 times (me being number 16). It was titled in your fathers name and yours. A muscle car dealer in Bloomington, Illinois owned it twice. I guess you could say that I am the fourteenth owner. It took me four years to restore the car. I tried to restore it as close as I could to its original condition with the exception of headers and the Atlas wheels which were available from Yenko as an option. The machine work, paint and upholstery were the only things I didn't do myself. Everything else was done by me with the help of a lot of good friends. Marlin Spotts was with me from the very beginning, even before I purchased the car, providing invaluable information and advice. Without their help, knowledge and patience my lifelong dream of owning a Yenko Deuce would never of been realized. The picture posted earlier in this thread is when I had the car at SCR7. It just doesn't get any better than when other owners bring their interest and passion together for these rare Supercars.

My bad, 16 owners and the x2 dealer was in IL - a memory is a terrible thing to lose

Phil, didn't schaeffer investments in IN own it was well? I think there was a pic in a mag when a dealer in NJ owned it? I might have confused two CG cars, imagine that

This Citrus Green Deuce traded hands ten times in Illinois until Schaefer Investment Auto in Indiana bought it in '92. It was featured in the January '92 edition of Chevy/Corvette Buyer's Guide. It was then sold to a Chevrolet dealer in Indiana. From there a collector in Wisconsin bought the car and I purchased it from him in '97.

The Yenko in Ottawa Il was owned by Jim Olendorf (spelling) his father owned Ottawa Engine for years. He bought the car from the original owner, also from Ottawa, I think his name was Baumgarts. I had the chance to buy this car in the mid 80's but I was sure he would want more than I could afford at the time. I was wrong, he ended up selling it for $2500 to I believe a guy from the Chicago area that had a few others Yenko cars. (This is what Jim told me later) The guy came back looking for the original engine which Jim told him that it was in a speed boat owned by a guy that owned Carlson's body shop. I heard the guy pursuaded him to part with it. On his way out of town with the engine he stopped in to thank Jim and inform him that it was the last Yenko II made. So I believe it is the last one on the VIN list from Sam Lehman's. It was Citrus green with a 4 speed and bench seat.
I sure would like to know who ended up with this car, I could tell a few stories about some street racing in the late 70's and early 80's that this car won.

Thanks for that info... i believe the 1st owner lived in the ottawa il. area... can't really remember if the car had power steering or not as its been a very long time.. but remember that there was no carpeting, a bench seat, radio, heater, dome light, and the car had traction bars, LT1 decals on the hood but the motor was just rebuilt and not the original LT1, had ansen sprint mags, and no extra gauges except hood tach..so is there away i could contact the 2 guys phil and ?? about their cars.. might be very interested in maybe purchasing the one for sale if it really is for sale.. just need a few names, numbers and locations..phils car look excellent and could be my old one [if it was he did a super job on the body as it was a bit rough at the time i sold it.. needed front fender, bumper, frame horn, headlight bucket, and repair a dent on roof above windshield and small dent in rear 1/4 near side light]..can't remember names or places but believe the car stayed in il for a few yrs then sold to ??? i can't really remember but i believe the person who called said he was from the detroit area but not 100% sure... like i said if i can contact or they can contact me maybe i could find out.. so any info contact me here or email at [email protected] thanks for all the help sofar and i love this site .. Perhaps this CG Deuce from Ottawa IL was the "Draggin Deuce" then????? Plenty of people from Ottawa came up to Oswego Dragway to race.
