Default Here's a strange one for you.

Just bought a 69 Corvair Monza Convertible (Yes, that's right. I couldn't pass up 1 of only 521 built!).

What's strange is the date code on the trim tag. "12AD"!!! Okay, so which is it? 12A or 12D?

Anyone ever see this before?

By the way, if you want to check out the car, go to MY HOME PAGE.

12 AD? Maybe it was Jesus's car. I love seeing those bumper stickers that say "What would Jesus drive?" I guess if anyone could tame a Corvair Monza, the almighty could.

Steve,

Well, that explains why this car has a tendency to "hover"!!

However, Jesus would have only been 12, and I think back in those days you had to be at least 13 or 14 to get your learners permit! Maybe they made an exception for the Son of God, but I kind of doubt it. Have you ever tried to talk a DMV employee into something???!!!

Since hearing it as a kid in church I've never forgotten the verse in Psalms and thought of them as a Mopar family?

Psalms 2 Vs. 5
"Then he will speak to them in his wrath,
and terrify them in his Fury"

Default Mystery Solved!!

Well guys, I was directed to Mark Ellis of the 1969 CORVAIR GROUP and he stated that basically, the "D" is an indicator of the Interior Paint Color. On the Trim Tag (I'll use mine as an example), you have an Exterior Color Code ("53" Glacier Blue), an Exterior Soft Top Color ("A" White), an Interior Fabric Type and Color ("704" Metallic Dark Blue Coated Fabric) and the Interior Paint Code ("D" Blue). This told the Fisher Body workers what color to paint not only the outside of the car, but the inside. So mystery solved, my car was assembled the 1st week of December, 1968.

After Mark and I talked, I found another site called CORVAIRKID that shows this exact information for the 66 model year!
