Default Brand New in Crate 1969 396 Warranty Block "CE"

Once in a lifetime!

Here we have an original, still in the crate, 1969 “CE” (commonly called “counter exchange”) 396 warranty service block, unused and still in the original shipping crate. This block was for the 396/325hp and 396/350hp 2 bolt service replacement.

How many of these do you think are out there? This may be your ONLY opportunity to bring your 1969 Camaro, Chevelle or Nova as close to numbers matching as possible with a BRAND NEW engine.

This is truly a unique and rare item. You see many used or repaired blocks on ebay. You may even see real (but used) CoPo and Yenko 427 blocks. But I have NEVER seen a still in the crate, unused 396 service replacement block offered on any of the muscle car sites or ebay for sale at any price.

This block was only removed from it’s original packaging to take pictures and then carefully nestled back into it’s home, where it’s been since 1970. This block came from a dealership where it was never used for it’s intended purpose, as a warranty replacement for a 1969 Camaro, Chevelle or Nova Big Block car. It still maintains all of the paint markings as new (see pics) and the cylinders are rust free.

- It even still has the service instructions for the GM tech to install by!

- It even still has the GM “break in” oil additive!

- It even still has the original crate, with the stenciled part number(s)!

These items are “must haves” for the car shows or just for the garage where your car lives.

This item is what you have been waiting for. The opportunity to put a BRAND NEW engine in your musclecar, and still be as close to numbers matching as possible.

Here are the “numbers” :

Crate: GM Part# 3981807

Block: 3969854 (2 bolt)

Casting Date: C 5 70

Pad numbers: CE058585

Piston’s: A80

Connecting Rods: #14015328

Cast into block: “High Perf Pass” (High Performance Passenger)

As you can see, this is the real deal, one time only, must have item. I won’t pretend to be giving this item away, but compared to the increased value it will add to your musclecar, it is a great deal!

This item comes as packaged from GM, and includes the Block and Pistons.

However, I have a set of 8 Connecting Rods, Original GM and unused (see pics) that I will give to the winner of this auction FREE.

Now for the fine print: There is none! I will guarantee that you are pleased with this block. If you are not pleased (highly doubtful) or 100% satisfied, then call me within 5 days of receiving this block and I will refund you 100% and even pay shipping back to me (but you will have to eat the shipping to you). When is the last time you saw that? No questions asked, but the block will have to be in the same condition as when it was sold and not have been installed in any way.

While this block is only correct for 1969 Camaro, Nova, Chevelle SuperSport (super sport) applications, it would be a nice addition and could be installed to your Supercar, ZL1, CoPo, Yenko, Berger, Gibb, Harrell, Baldwin Motion (baldwin-motion), Z-28 (Z28) or just a plain jane 69 Camaro or Corvette.

This block will fit in all chevy big block applications, even those that used 427, 454, 402, 409 ci engines.

As nice as it is, you may even choose to just put it on display!

With a March 1970 cast date, wouldn't this also be correct for an early 1970 model car? Since it was cast is 1970 is it a 402 or a 396? I'm not an interested buyer. Just trying to educate myself and possibly others a little.
Thanks, James

Good Catch, Correct, it is a service block for both, and the GM instructions to the warranty tech reflect that.
Instructions issued 6-6-69, have details on the oil filter adaptor for years 1970, then 69 and yet again for 68 and prior.
