Back in the late 70's and early 80's in the Philly area I remember a red '66 or'67 Ford Fairlane GT running around town. I think the guy worked at the Arco gas station in Southampton because that's where I always remember seeing the car in the bays. Damn that thing was loud and it sure seemed to run like a raped ape but what did I know at the time. I didn't have my drivers license yet but that car sure was a looker.

It's not just race cars that have disappeared. Back in '68 I had an early '68 Ram Air Firebird. One of less than 100 built so I understand. I last saw the car in the fall of '69 and it had been painted silver from the original off white. I also had a '66 396 4 speed Beaumont Sport Deluxe. It has disappeared as well. They were the types of cars that might have been looked after and survivied. I'm sure others have the same stories.

Don, I remember that Z!! I am thinking it was blue or purple but I remember the dude being pushed around in his wheelchair by his buddies and watching them place him in the car. I watched that car run at JFK all night!! I don't remember the pace car but I remember the two white Can Ams and the woodgrain Malibu wagon with the 454 in it. They were some kool nights............

Two other cars I remember well was an orange 69 Z with centerlines that ran with the latino crowd and a 340 Duster with a HEAVY dose of silver metallic paint and black 340 stripes. I think the Duster had cragar SS's on it. I always seen that car down there but never seen it race anyone........
