Robosaurus I thought it was a joke.

. If I had the money I would have owned Robosaurus. I would have dressed him up like Santa Claus at XMAS time and terrorized my town. It is a amazing piece of engineering. Barrett-Jackson is one huge party and a very good one at that. You don't have to have the best of the best cars. The auction had something for everyone.

I agree with Charley about the cars @ Barrett Jacksos there was some very nice stuff there, original, concept, one off, and resto-mod, but just from the pics posted on this site it looks like Russo and Steele had some very top notch muscle cars, the only thing I don't agree with was Craig Jackson bidding on non-charity items, i.e. Robosaurus, because after Craig bid $450K and the bid wouldn't move after that they were not going to quit working it until it did, and Craig had a look of concern on his face about taking Robosaurus home, but as far as Craig bidding on charity cars and raising money for charities with no sale fees involved, then there is no conflict of interest that I can see there, just my .02 cents, maybe I am wrong.

I am surprised you or LV did not buy that military version of the motorhome especially for the low dollar that thing went for. Less than a conventional motorhome. You could have used it for party central at some of the shows and Steve would have been the envy of all his friends on the next Elk hunt!

Charlie et all:
Not ever have been a BJ attendee - I have a question. I was shooting the bull today with a car affecinado and we talked about the BJ results. One bit of trivia I heard a TV commentator site is the # of cars that were on the docket last year (07), and then were back again this year (08) - like that cuda that lost over a hundredK from last years auction. Anyway...one questions that came up:
What percentage of the cars are actually "bought" and exchnage owners?? The presumption is many cars are "bought" by the current owners (still have to pay taxes and applicable fees). I don't know, that's why I'm asking.

Does "Well Bought" mean that the seller got screwed?
IMO, since Ford was the dominant sponsor, it is not surprising that other brands were given less screen time. You don't bite the hand that feeds you.

Also, some of the cars that Craig Jackson said were under the money WERE under the money. There were numerous hot rods, resto mods and some admitedly incorrect retorations, like the yellow Shelby Mustang, that sold for less than what it would have cost to put them together.
The '68 and '69 Camaro resto mods cost the sellers a bunch of money to build, and they both sold for half of that.
As Jay Leno said about himself, being the president of the "More Money than Brains Club", some guys always end up upside down on their pet projects, and get their lunch handed to them. How many time has it been discussed that $100k was invested to restore a car worth $75k?

That battle ready RV went for $50k!
That thing will get you some respect at the next tail gate party you go to. I can see that thing in the Lambo parking lot with a plume of brat smoke over it.

I thought it went for CONSIDERABLY less than that.... At $50k, it was still a pretty good deal considering how well equipped it was. Best part about it was if you hunted Minnesota, you would be ok from all the errant bullets that fly around here during season and with the bullet proof armor, you would be fine. That is why I don't hunt here anymore.

I agree about the commercials. Saw enough of that red Mustang commercial to know what the underside of one of those look like with my eyes closed.

I'm guessing that over 95% of the cars went to new owners. Some cars that show up the next year are probaly brought back to sell because they bought it under the influence and then woke up, maybe think they are gonna make money, tired of the POS etc. I don't think there was any planning on what cars to exclude from TV coverage by going to commercial breaks. They have no need to do that. As fo r "under the money" etc..It is a auction and that is what happens at auctions. There are great deals and there are stupid deals.
