OK, I was wrong as well. I thought things would be worse than they were.

As far as Ford is concerned, hey, they ponied up the sponser $$. IMO, yet another lost opp. by GM, and yet again even the Dodge is getting more coverage than the new Camaro.

Robosaurus has to be seen up close to really appreciate how cool it is, watching it on tv it looks hokey see it in person and watch it work is another deal I was right under it at night spitting flames etc..fricken cool toy!!!

I think the guy said he has been running it for 18yrs? pretty trick piece today unreal to think how to build today let alone back then.

as far as the bidding went it they looked around the room and asked if anyone wanted in on a car pretty nice of BJ if you ask me and as it should be, no exscuse for not bidding unless you went for a walk, they worked pretty much every rig to death trying to get more money for it, falls under it is what is kind of thing.

over all its a real fun time and lots of cool cars for sale at the auctions and around town, mark your calendar for next year and Get R Done, plus you can always harass Charlie if you get bored, .

BJ is definately a show....people, cars, pretty girls, excitement and so forth. I have come to look at it as the official start of the "car year"...kind of like Xmas shopping starts the day after Thanksgiving It gives us all a lot to talk about and haggle over....and it gives Bruce and Sam a chance to hone their photography skills It may be reality to some but for me it's just an interesting diversion from the snow in the driveway and the cars I can't drive for another 3 months I really like those "auction girls"...they could have their own show called "Fender Skirts"

wilma...wishing I was in a sand trap with Tibor

GM was there with their own room with new cars on display also. They gave great coverage to the new ZR1 Vette with Leno giving it a great intro.
Robosaurus is a engineering marvel. I spoke to the guy for awhile. They have traveled everywhere with it doing shows and it even has standing bookings if the new owner wants to make money with it. It was reverse engineered to fold itself into a 48' trailer footprint that is 13.5' tall. The 5th wheel pin is under it's chin. You just tow it down the road like you would any other big rig trailer.

I thought the car market would be pretty strong considering the stock market and real estate situation. It didn't seem like as many $300-600K cars but a lot more cars into solid money like the $60-120K range. Looks like some strong numbers at R&S as well.

Kind of a pity it seems to me that what many consider to be the worlds premier classic car collector auction is defined by Robosarous and that on prime time Saturday viewers and attendees were subjected to actor/singer powerhouse John Schnider standing on top of his column shift Charger. It really is more a show or event now than it is a place astute collectors go to buy and sell significant muscle.

It seems to me that Mecum is now the only auction house where you can buy/ sell and look at truly significant muscle.

Another issue entirely is Charleys fixation with Robosaurous. Our fearless leader the owner of the vaunted supersnake and a ZL-1 among other rare muscle is now openly lusting after what amounts to be an overgrown fire breathing toy for about a half a million. I guess when you dabble in three million dollar Mustangs a half million dollar toy robot is chump change. LOL LOL

Me, I am going to Mecum's spring auction to see Dave C's. collection get sold off. Dave has more significant muscle in his shop then BJ had all week IMHO.

I first saw Robosaurus in the twilight years ago at the Spring Autofair in Charlotte. A very impressive sight to say the least!

Am I the only one that thinks a 10% buyer's and a 10% seller's premium is over the top? On a 100K gavel that means the car was sold for $90,000 and bought for $110,000. It was stated that internet bidders paid a 12% premium.

I thought it was 10% buyer and 8% seller, either way it was no wonder Mr. Jackson was laughing every time that gavel slammed down!!
