1970(?) Nickey nova for sale

<font color="orange"> </font> I was BSing with a friend last summer and asked if he knew where i could find a period 396 for my Z11 and he says he has the perfect motor for it. I ask him what it is and he says its a 375/396 out of his dads old nova. A few days later i go over to have a look-see at the motor and sure enough, it's legit. The block has already been boiled+prepped, stock bore, pistons, rods, refurbished heads, matching alum. intake, even has the original cam! I ask what he wants for it and he says he'll have to ask his dad. I didn't want to push it on the motor, so i asked about the rest of the car. He takes me out to the garage and in the corner sits a dark blue nova hiding under a cover. It could really use at least one quarter due to rust in the bottom edge, bu the rest of it's straight &amp; clean. It's all there. How should i go about getting this car without blowing it?! I don't have the money or room right now but sheesh! What do you guys think this would be worth? Thanks for any feedback.

Be honest and tell him the car and motor should stay together and see where that leads to.

My thoughts are to maybe buy the motor, store it, then pounce on the car when the time is right.

In my excitement i didn't tell you that my buddy told me the car was from Nickey. I'm trying to get ahold of him this weekend yet to get more details on the history of the car.If i find out more you'll be the first to know.

Good luck. I'm sure I'm biased, but, an L78 sold at Nickey is certainly a desireable car, even more so with the original motor.

If he's really your friend then you should be honest with him about the value of the car. Don't try to steal it from him. If he's really your friend maybe your honesty will pay off and he'll sell you a really cool car at a fair price. Just my .02, Ed

You should try to resist the temptation of the "take advantage of the situation gods," IMO. It's one thing to have a friend who's wanting to sell right away because he needs cash quick (for whatever reason).
I make sure that is what they REALLY want to do, and that I am giving them exactly what they want, so there is no seller's remorse later that will cause bad feelings. There's not much worse than a brick through your pane glass window when the guy finds out he's been taken major league advantage of. Just my .02US.
