amazing....as indicated with the warning sign on the first page this was started with humor

"Who started this anyway..." was also meant to be light-hearted and not in anger.

Still, gotta' tread lightly when you joke about politics or religion. Someone might take it the wrong way and go off.

Now THATS what I'm talking about !!

Just remember that Ollie North was convicted on a technicality, and was pardoned to keep him from going public with the information about Regan lying to the country about the Iran Contra affair.
Often overlooked in Ollies testamony is his statement that Osama bin Ladin was the greatest threat to America, and this was back in the '80s. He wanted to off the #%*& back then, and would have if given the assignment.

The scary thing about Reagan is that we now know when he was saying he couldn't recall, he REALLY couldn't recall as the Alzheimers was probabaly starting to affect him even back then. Poor old guy. He was the first President I ever voted for. I turned 18 just in time to be eligible to vote in the 1980 election. I've voted for him in every election ever since.

Steve,

There is bliss in simplicity. I'm betting that Reagan was
very happy in those final days.

If guys didn't post silly political stuff then maybe the Lounge would be more about silly jokes or videos. (Who started this anyway...) We're all entitled to our opinions and others are entitled to rebuttals. Think of it as being fair and balanced.

amazing....as indicated with the warning sign on the first page this was started with humor, I am very impressed with all the well versed, informed, educated and opinionated individuals. Thanks for chiming in. Now if you'll turn attention to "This Car Guy Needs Help" there is a great oppurtunity to show how much we are all united despite our different political opinions.

Chris,

The "political discussions" here are light hearted at best.
I can't honestly ever remember seeing one get out of control
to the point of moderators getting involved ( shut down ).

I think everyone here recognizes that and acts accordingly.

On another note, how well have we been doing with the donations
to the other cause? I saw something about possible auctions.
Can you elaborate? Will one person be handling that?

Steve

Steve, there are some really cool items being donated by members with photos on the "Car Guy Needs a Hand" thread; https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/show...0/fpart/3/vc/1

Tom C. has suggested that the persons donating items be paid directly then foward the total to the address listed on the Cure for Carson website http://www.cureforcarson.com/index.html

Thanks everyone for your help.

I hate to resuscitate the beating of this dead political horse, but...

Anyone ever watch "South Park"? I don't let my kids watch it, so as not to be a hypocrite I don't watch it either, but I've seen a small part of one episode, which I'll have to admit made me laugh. It was the episode where they were voting for class president or something, and the students only had 2 choices, which were [forgive me for being crude!] a "turd sandwich or a giant douche", and the "cadidates" were literally represented as such objects. So, they keep going on about their limited choices, and how their choice for such an important job came down to either a turd sandwich or a giant douche...I know, it is crude, and politics is serious stuff sometimes, but I got a pretty good chuckle out it...but it's so fitting some days!
