LUK is a Pep Boys unit. I'm putting one in Benjamin's '69 Nova, only because I know he'll toast it while learning to drive a stick.... The replacement unit will be a better quality unit, likely a GM unit since we will run street tires most of the time.

Honestly M its better than that. He will not toast a LUK setup. Call the Rep and ask him. Its good quality in a street unit. |

Maybe others already knew but what is the setup? Tires, trans, hp, tq, rear gears launch rpm & shift rpm?

OK, you are way out of LUK territory now. I have a McLeod Soft Lok in my 650 lb-ft Pontiac and it's rock solid but does chatter a bit on takeoff. Dual disc is a good bet here. |

I like the McLeod Twin Disc clutch. 800-1000hp rating and you can slip it with the organic discs and it holds extremely well at the track. I have used it several times with LS applications for street/strip cars they never had a problem. Could have been due to hydraulic clutch. Other than that I would recommend a Spec Clutch which again have ran on the street and strip and it worked great as well. I havent had a hard grabbing clutch that didnt chatter on the street a little..

I've got this in my 67 Nova (600hp). Rock solid and great manners. Not Cheap! |

I'm running a Hays Street/Strip clutch.....it reminds me of the old Borg Warner Brute Force clutch I had in my old Nova. A little heavier on the foot compared to stock.....but IT HOOKS!
4000rpm launch, shifting at 7k with a 3600 pound car. You'd be hard pressed to find someone harder on a clutch than me...... [img]<<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/ ![]() Kurt
