I purchased the 2-1/2" stainless kit from Magnaflow with the X pipe. I've pulled my trans out multiple times. I unhook them at the collector. That lowers the exhaust far enough to get the trans out.
I should clarify that I had a 427 450hp (guessing) with Flowmasters on my Nova and it was horrible. I have a friend with the original Flowmasters (2-1/2"  on his '78 Camaro with a GM 383 sbc and it sounds good. From my perspective, if you have decent power, a 3" Flowmaster system will have drone.Kurt

I've been down the "Flowmaster 40 Series" road with the Camaro. Drone Kings IMO.
Now, I'm hooked up with a full 3" stainless system with an X-pipe and Dynomax Stainless mufflers. I love the sound, can hear the .680 lift cam and even a valve that needs to be adjusted. Plus, I don't need to scream for a co-pilot to hear me. They are loud when you need them to be. Thanks to Denny at Mufflex Performance Exhaust in Trenton, NJ.

X2...Probably one of the best shops on the east coast IMHO. Had work done my old turbo Audi and they nailed it! I've have random people bring groups of friends by my car at the Carlisle Euro show (the only show I bring it to) just to look and listen to the exhaust! Its very flattering when someone does it as well as Mufflex and people notice!

I have some other videos... unfortunately FB kills the quality. I'll see if another host will be support HD Video better. The sound is much better out of the camera.
