Default Dutch Classics

Was up Maple Grove today. Yesterday Jim Damiels SS/AH set the record at 8.33 at 158 and some change. Backed it up with an 8.37. Today before the rain, he went another 8.36 at 157.00. Thats flyin and the air was not the greatest. Ray Barton power. Charlie Wescott was not there with his Warfish cudas and neither was Bucky Hess. In Stock Eliminator, Jerry MacNeish tried to set the D/Stick record but could not. He went a 10.57 at around 123. I believe the record is 10.54 held by a Mercury. Real fast for the little 302!! Hopefully the rain will end by Saturday nite so I can go back Sunday for the finals! Also, SS/AA John Armstrong went 8.75 in his Vette. A real nice run.

NOPE, not there. Him or that Riley 71 chevelle SS/EA was not there. Armstrong did go an 8.61 in SS/AA and Dave Thomas went an 8.91 in SS/BA (Armstrong power) when I was there but I left before the final rounds on Sunday. ALL those boys were flying. The Hemi cars with Jim Daniels was something else to see. Three high 8.20 runs in a row during the Shoot out. Thats gettin it. The AA/SA mustang went some 9.60 runs also. Eric Bohlman from CMC in Delaware. Bohlman also runs a real fast E/A Ford Probe in Comp. Eliminator that is the record holder. Jerry MacNeish was running real strong in D/S with most his runs in the 10.50's all day. A 1.38 sixty with the wheels up in first and second. He qualified 7th in a 109 car field.

The Soul Survivor even went a few rounds this weekend. Getting back to Oakes camaro.....one of the baddest cars on the planet, truly! I saw him run in the 8's in SS/CA.

Is McNeish's Camaro a real Z28? I heard that it was. If he's running 10.50's that's unreal for a stock 302. Unreal! Any photos?

Yes it is a real one. A white interior car too. The record in D/S is 10.54 and held by a 1967 Mercury. Go to YouTube and type in Jerry MacNeish there are a couple videos. A real nice car!

Cool photos of Oakes car. I think he's back this week from the middle east and will go down to Valdosta,GA to get his SS/DA record back from the turbo stang. Should be fun to watch that competition in the future.
