69 Camaro 396/350 hp Cowl Induction Air Cleaner
Is this the correct application for a 69 Camaro 396/350 hp Cowl Induction Air Cleaner? Friend of mine is doing one and was wondering if chrome or black was correct.
Cowl Induction Air Cleaner thanks,

He shows some more (thumbnail) pictures on this posting.
http://www.camaros.net/forums/showth...22#post1383322 Looks right for a 69 Camaro except I think the chrome lid is off of something else.

Re: 69 Camaro 396/350 hp Cowl Induction Air Cleane
That looks correct for any 69 Camaro with cowl hood.....except that the lid should be black. Has the correct flat bottom and breather elbow, as well as correct flange. For use on small block, as well, if you use the flange extension.
I read somewhere recently, that some late production 69 Camaros used the ridged bottom air cleaner. Not sure if they also used curved breather tube, or the double 45 degree breather tube. |

Thanks for all who provided input. My main question was whether the chrome top was ever used. Seems the consensus is that the black topper is used in all cases.

Re: 69 Camaro 396/350 hp Cowl Induction Air Cleane
My 69 has a chrome lid. It is an original GM lid with correct silk screen instructions on the bottom and original decals. However, all current research indicates that the chrome lids were never used on ZL-2. I am the 3rd owner and the 2nd owner claims he did not change it. Car is all original including paint, seems strange the first owner or dealer would go through the trouble of putting a chrome lid on an original ZL-2 equiped Camaro. Build is VN 04A.

Re: 69 Camaro 396/350 hp Cowl Induction Air Cleane
-----Lots of times back when I was working at different used car lots in the 60s and early 70s, I would exchange cool stuff from cars that we took in for resale one way or another. In fact, I put a chrome lid on my 69 350hp Camaro that way. Cant remember what I took it off, but at the time I thought it looked neat. .......Bill S

Right or wrong a chrome lid is going on this one, the car is not perfect anyway and the chrome looks better. He just wanted to know what the correct answer was if asked. thanks for all the replys
