1969 Camaro - possible Motion

I bought an interesting 69 Camaro last fall that I don't know what to make of it and I thought a little input from others would be helpful. The car is an X66 396/375 car with 4000 original miles and has been sitting in a field for 30+ years. It appears to have been drag raced with the exhaust unhooked and factory tailpipes still in place. I have traced the paperwork back to the Philadelphia area with a title dated 1971. Originally titled 4/69.

The interesting things included evidence of both hockey stick SS strip as well as Z28 stripes over a factory fiberglass cowl induction hood, Z28 emblems on a Daytona Yellow car with black stripes up front and the reverse, yellow on black in the rear of the car. The inside has a Motion type steering wheel. The trunk has a single Dupree pump. The car also has ET traction bars with original stickers, shocks typically used by Motion etc. All this adds up to unique, but I can't quite put a finger on it. I know Joel did whatever the customer wanted. This car seems to be a 'big block Z28' This could also be from another performance dealer, or modified after the fact.

The previous owner could have put the Z/28 emblems on the car since that was the "thing to do"back then. You have to keep in mind, even though Joel used parts like a few of those on your car, they were all aftermarket and open for sale to the general public.
I cant say for sure but , I dont think Joel would have put Z/28 emblems on a car.
I hate to say it but until you pay the documentation fee, it will be left to speculation. I would do a very in depth car history research all the way back to its origin.
The more you know and have proof of the better off you will be if and when you decide to pay Joel to give you the yay or nay.
I know there are a few guys out there that believe and have proof that their cars are MOTION cars but Joel doesnt recognize them as Motion cars.
Keep in mind theres basically 2 types of MOTION cars
1. Baldwin Motion of course the name says it all Baldwin sold, Motion prepped cars.
2. Motion prepped cars. Cars brought by the customer to Motion to be prepped that were bought elsewhere.

It seems like a neat car. I would do a PA title search using this form:

The single Dupree pump will barely supply enough fuel for 250 hp. If the car was a drag car, hopefully you can get more documentation on its racing career and previous owners. Pics of its early configuration would be very helpful.
Who knows what Joel actually has for records. I would advise you to do as much homework so that you can make a plausible case why you believe it could have gone through his shop. Pay the documentation fee if you care to validate your suspicions. Otherwise you’ve got a neat old drag car with some interesting history to research. That would be enough for me to enjoy. - I can't say without a doubt. The whole car is cool and weird all at once. The engine pad is 0116JH which is probably about right for an 02D car, but I haven't gotten to the oil filter pad to check for a VIN. The car is in storage, tightly packed next to other 69 camaros so I will get to it asap.

Yes, it is an original GM fiberglass hood which is one of the reasons I bought it. I'm friends with Bob Harris so I will have him look over the car as well. I will get a picture of the tach asap.

Thanks for the PA title info link. I will see what I can come up with. Attached is the oldest title I have so far, dated 12-22-71.

I agree, seems like a dual fuel pump would make more sense. Again, I'm just not sure what this car is, but it is definitely not a plain jane.
