Hello everyone,
Forgive me if this sort of post is a no-no....? I have owned my Oshawa built 69 Chevelle SS396 since 1991. I have done what I think is a fairly decent quality frame up with the bodywork / paint being excellent. I have now been bitten by the Mustang bug and am thinking of selling the car to buy a 65-70 fastback. So, based on info below, what do you think I should be expecting to get for this car? Many thanks in advance for any replies. C GM paperwork attached. Currently has a 0 mile / dyno broken in 454 o Hydraulic street cam o Rebuilt Qjet (non numbers 750 cfm) o Date matched Qjet intake o GM dizzy with pertronix o Manifolds Rebuilt M20 0 miles with new repro 621 bell housing, new GM clutch/pressure plate/flywheel. Original diff to car with newly installed 3.08s 0 miles New 2.5 mandrel bent exhaust (stainless down pipes) dynomax turbo muffs , repro tips Lemans Blue paint and new sheetmetal as follows: o 2x Full 1/4s o 2x fenders o 2x door shells o 2x full rockers o 2x outer wheel houses Parchment bucket / non-console interior Front disk brakes Non console car Hurst shifter with repro original style boot & bezel New carpet, door panels & headliner. Seats re done 15 years ago (only issue is a small cracking section on drivers seat bottom) *I am currently in the process of installing the eng/trans, exhaust and interior. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

i am no expert but i am guessing $30k Low - $40k High.
with all that work on the car it deserves the higher above mentioned price range as it is a real documented Canadian SS396. whats keeping it on the lower side of things is the non matching motor and non original rims. great color on the car but it would have been nicer to put back the dark blue vinyl roof as the car did come with the vinyl top when new. Just my 2 cents.

yeah - I agree re vinyl top, esp. re DK blue - not too many of those for sure.
When I did the car I was sure I would never sell and I decided to build it what I thought was "my way".....i.e. no vinyl top. Thanks |

Chris, prior to selling, you could always reinstall it and correct a few of the minor things that are "incorrect". The several hundred you spend might could get you a few grand in the long run.

I still can't get past the fact you are selling this car to buy a mustang!

Just my opinion, with apologies to the Ford guys out there: your Chevelle is twice the car compared to an early Mustang.
Go drive a few before selling your car. I had a 66 Mustang, V* auto, power steering, factory AC (which was just a crappy looking unit hung under the dash). Gave it away.
