Default Can we help this young shop teacher>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I was wondering if we could help this young shop teacher.

Just a little back round:

Jordan Englehardt is a first year shop teacher at Lyons Township H.S. just outside of Chicago. He is 23 years old and this is the first job he landed out of college. I have known Jordan's family for over 30 years and his mom and dad are dear friends of my wife and I. This kid truely has a passion for teaching as well as all things automotive. His mom and dad really wanted him to pursue a medical career and many times tried to get him steered away from "greasy" things associated with with cars. Many a time I came to Jordans defense not to have his parents try to quench his automotive desire. He always has had an interest in anything with wheels.Starting with his bicycles, go karts, and so on .Anyways, when he landed this job at Lyons HS. he took over a program that had a teacher that all he wanted to do was retire and had no spark or interest in helping these kids learn.Shop was a mess, disarray in the program, outdated teaching material, and low interest and enrollment in the program.. The school took a chance on Jordan and hired him. He spent his summer (unpaid,on his own time) to try to prepare this program for the new year.Clean up ,organize the shop, painting, and so on with money out of his own pocket to get it going. Once the students caught wind of the exitement going on in Mr."E's" class, enrollment started to climb. He brought on exiting projects for the kids to work with their hands their heads and their talents. Like all schools , they claim there is no money to put in to vocational classes, so he's on his own to find creative ways to fund the class. Thats where I think we can help.UTI is sponsoring a contest to for a shop makeover.$25 grand to help your HS shop.with an update. I was wondering if we can help this kid with some votes..On the link below look for the video from Lyons Township HS. Each school had to submit a video of why they should get the $$$$. I'm sure they all need it , but let's see if we can't help em. His school is in second place right now and the contest closes next week. Please make sure you look for the video from Lyons Township and follow the prompts.Hopefully we can put him over the top!

Thanks all that can help.

I voted but, for some reason, the link in my confirmation email isn't working. I click it and nothing happens.

Once you choose the Lyons Township HS box under the video, you will receive an email with a conformation link. Once you click on iconformation link your vote is counted and you don't have to do anything else. It just prevents automated "machine " voting. Imagine that , vote cheating here in Chicago!
