1979 Formula Firebird 6.6liter 17K mile survivor..
Very rare 1979 Formula 6.6litre Pontiac Firebird. This example has only 17K miles and was sold new at Valley Vista Pontiac in San Bernadino CA. 100% original paint, that is simply a stunning example. No door dings, acid rain, cracking, hazing NOTHING. Beautiful blue interiors with AM/FM 8 track, power windows, AC. The glass is crystal clear with no scratching as so many do. Rare N82 California emissions, all intact. Rally II Wheels and Formula W50 package. The trunk is mint and nothing has ever been used, with power trunk release. The mat looks as if nothing has ever been inside the trunk. PHS documents and build sheet. Car still retains its original exhaust and is like new. Only 24K examples where built in '79, the least amount of all Firebird production. Over 117K T/A were built that year. Not many 6.6 litre Formulas were built and even fewer with California emissions. Undercarriage still has stickers on the original shocks, rear, brake drums etc. Drives like new and need nothing to enjoy. Please email or private message Brian Henderson if interested, or call 724-875-3546. Asking $30,000.00 |

Beautiful car! That is the 403 Oldsmobile engine right? I believe the 6.6 Pontiac engine was reserved for the four speed cars back in 1979. That blue velour interior sure brings back memories.

Ah, I love that car. An older guy had the same car except in black and silver that was killer. Very cool.

Re: 1979 Formula Firebird 6.6liter 17K mile survivor..
Its a 403, from what I have researched that engine was also referred to as the 6.6 Litre. The T/A 6.6 was the stick 400 car..

On a trans am when the shaker says 6.6 litre it's equipped with the olds engine and when the shaker says T/A 6.6 it's the pontiac engine.

The 403 is clearly stated on the build sheet pictured.

Auto/403 was all we could get in CA back then- more than a couple of my buds bought the "good" powertrain one's and registered them out of state, same deal with the Camaro's during that period. Great looking W66

Yeah, California sure had some crazy emissions/new car rules back then.
