Default 69 yenko chevelle story

a guy i work with claims he owned a 69 yenko chevelle, he also totaled the car, wrapping it around an overpass post. color was "plum", could be a maroon car. were there any maroon cars or something close to this color. he has done several frame offs on novas and chevelles so i take his word on the car. i know members are trying to track down the locations of cars. this was in indiana south of indianapolis and i see from the postings several 69 chevelles were sold in indy. he is trying to locate pics or registration of the car to get a vin #. hope this helps, ill post more info if he can provide it. im trying to get him to check out the site and tell his story.

Sounds like Garnet Red, and possibly sold from Nankivell Chevrolet, 3800 South East St. Indianapolis, IN 46227 - now it's Huebler Chev right on the main drag between Indy and Greenwood.

There is also the possibility that it was sold from V.V.Cooke in Louisville, KY or Joseph Chev in Cincinnati, OH. Cars from both dealerships have ended up in IN.

If he had a loan he may find the info in his bank or at the local courthouse. Legal filings sometimes have the vin.

What was the settlement on the total. ie: Did his insurance pay off the loan, and then take the car and sell it to a salvage yard, or did he perhaps not have insurance and it went to a local salvage yard. Where I'm going here is, does he know where the car went. Could it still be in a yard, or is it a Honda? Schonye

im trying to get more info on the car still. owner claims to have pics when car was new, all his cars pics are in his mothers attic in a suitcase. he hasnt made it over there to get them. ive seen several of his pics of t buckets and od coupes that he got into building in the early 70's. should be very interesting if i can get the pics and scan them in for all to see. ive considered searching out the car in local yards. owner was "layed up" for several months after wreck and didnt want anything to do with the car @ that time. when i can get more info i'll post it.
