Bad typist. The Buy it now price is 100k, not 10k I bet. Vin # isn't even close. If I could get an L89 for 10k, I would buy 5 of them today.

From the auction...

This auction is a legally binding contract to buy this vehicle. All vehicles are sold as-is unless otherwise specified. I have done my best to accurately describe this vehicle. It is up to the buyer to come see and further inspect the car before the end of the auction.

So if it's legally binding...does that mean you can buy it now for 10 grand?

Check the bid history. There have been several bids made and all were cancelled by the seller. It is a scam.

The bid cancellations by themselves don't bother me that bad. After all, the listing clearly states that he will not accept bids unless you first email him. I am always skeptical when asked to email outside of ebay.

Anyway, I emailed the seller asking for more info, such as pics and also asked why he has a 68 vin listed with the car. Just ignored my questions, so I am guessing he sends the same canned response to each inquiry. Here is the response I received.

"Hello,

I'm glad you are interested in my car.My name is Kevin Simons, I live in London,UK.The car is located in London.I didn't wanted to list the car using my UK credit card (to create the eBay account) because eBay would automaticlly list the car on www.eBay.co.uk and I would have a really hard time selling the car in the UK.This is one of the reasons I'm actually selling the car on eBay.So I use my cousins eBay user ID,he lives in the States.
I worked in the States for two years and I had the opportunity to buy the car there.I took the car with me when I returned to the UK but it turns out it's verry difficult for me to register it here,we have totally different standards here and the duty taxes are very high.So after long discussions with my wife,we decided to sell the car and buy another one here.I got me a very nice deal and I don't want to lose it,that's why I'm selling it so cheap, for only $10,000 USD.I need the money as soon as possible.
It's a great car,in perfect condition,it has no scratches, no damages, no hidden defects.Kept it in a warm garage. The car was bought from US, it has US standards,so stay cool it´s perfectly compatibile to your standards and you won´t have to pay any other duty taxes on it.The car will be shipped through DAS,one of the world's most reliable shipping companies.I will cover the insurance and shipping charges, since the shipping company requires that the shipper pays for the fees.
The transaction will be carried out entirely through eBay's secure transaction system,it's the safest and the only one I trust and this way we're both protected.
If you are serious about buying the car, please let me know.I'm waiting for your email ASAP.

Best regards,

Kevin"

Although he says he is in UK, I ran the IP address of the email I received. It is in California.

Anyone use ebay's secure transaction system? There must be a huge loopehole.

Lynn

Bruce:

If I really thought the car would get here 8 months later, and it was as represented, I would be purchasing it right now. Be glad to wait 8 mos for a numbers matching L89!!!

I think it is a scam. I have emailed too many of these guys with the 9k to 11k rare muscle cars to think otherwise. The response emails are way too similar. My guess is it is the same group of guys. These listings usually get pulled early by ebay.

Lynn I realize what you were saying...I was just making fun of DAS...as both Kim and Bob know, they're not so dependable....

I think that you're right about it being a certain group of losers...
