Default California firebirds

A question for anyone in the know.I recently purchased a 1979 Formula firebird with the L72 and manual trans. It was VN built, and delivered to a Mannhattan beach CA. Pontiac dealer per window sticker.I am a SO Cal native and clearly remember because of strict state emissions you could not order the Pontiac motor or man trans in state-some of my buds had to buy them in Nevada an use an out of state addy.My first new car was a 79 T/A I ordered through a local dealership and it came with the olds engine and auto..has anyone else heard or know of any L72/4SPD VN cars being delivered in state?

TIA

I have just the guy who can help you with your question. John Witzke
is the TA/6.6, W72 guru and historian on these ponchos. I've been looking myself for a Y84 4 spd from VN but have had no luck. I've never seen an L72/4spd car sold in CA. Do you have the build sheet or PHS on this car? Get all you info. together & email John. He's a wealth of
information. His email is "[email protected]". It may take him a couple of days to respond because of his schedule, but he will get back with you. Tell him the guy interested in the Y84 4spd car refered you.
Let me know if he can help.
