Default JPEG file question

I have a problem... In the process of changing over to a new computer, I burned all my personal files to CDRs and DVDs from my old one. There are alot of JPEG pictures from my digital Camera I had saved that somehow during the transfer process got screwed up. None of the photo viewing programs I have will open them. If I try to open one in Photoshop it says "unknown or invalid JPEG marker type was found".. All these photos worked before I burned them on DVD. And I didn't realize this happened until I already wiped my old computer clean and the originals are now long gone. My question is there any way I can recover these JPEG files somehow? Is there any program out there that can open them and fix them? These are all the 2006 Pictures of my Kid and my Family.. so if I can't fix these, then I've lost them all... dammit.

Please help....

What program were you using also what OS do you have? You still have Microsoft Office?? See if you have MS Office picture Manager off the MS Office Tools Tab. if you still have Paint you should still be able to open them up as well.

I dont know if your hosed since you cleaned the machine, I had a snafu last year and bought the recovery software and Denis managed to get most of it back, but the machine didnt like that deep scrub it has always been kinda quirky since then,

stop messing with the pc until you get a expert on it, Denis says the more times you work the machine the more you lose as it writes over stuff..he chewed me out as I had tried to do it on my own and really didnt get far in the process and was stuck anyway and probably lost some of my stuff not knowing.
