need to know if anyone can ID the year of this Chevelle by the dash. Owner says 1972, but I thuoght they had round gauge pods. SUpposed to be a SS 350, 40K mile car with doc's. Going to look at it this afternoon.

Thats the only interior pic I have. Did some have the wide gauges and some the round?

Dash, steering wheel, and seat covers indicate 71 or 72 Chevelle, and definitely NOT an SS car since it does not have the round gauge dash. This one is a regular Malibu.

Thanks guys - thats what I thought, but its a little too 'new' for my knowledge base to kick in.
1 other question - would the 'Heavy Chevy' be a standard malibu? (or were they all big blocks?) the good thing is that the owners manual (hopefully meaning p-o-p) and window sticker are supposed to be with the car. I'll get a chance to look at the documentation when I look at the car. |

Standard Heavy Chevy dash was the sweep speedo, you could order IP Gauges in any Malibu or Elcamino from 66 clear thru 83. There are Plenty of 70 to 72's outhere with Factory Gauges that have been cloned into something other that they were born. Yes you could get a 400 Turbo Jet in a Heavy Chevy ,auto or stick as well as a Malibu the key is the buildsheet !! Big Block Heavy Chevys aren't to common as most were small blocks and that even includes 307 power !!! The Heavy Chevy package was basicaly a trim package, raised hood , blacked out grille, 14" ralleys NO wheel opening mouldings or emblems at all!!! special decals on sides and script on hood deck and sides. Inside a rubber mat and 300 series base seats and doorpanels very hard to restore one of these as nothing is available.
