Default W-30 1970-72

I just got the Aug-Sept issue of Power magazine. There is an article in it about a guy named Ulf, who owns 12 Olds musclecars. 7 of them are factory W-30 cars. His friend Jocke owns another two W-30 cars. They say there are 15 1970-72 W-30 cars here in Sweden.

Here is another pic. If I understand things right then the black one is a 1972 X-code, one of two in Sweden and one of 58 built. The red one is a 4-speed 1971, one of 32 built.
There is also a beige coupe in the collection that was bought new without normal options like PS and PB. But it came with 4.11:1 gears instead. Built to race !

Sounds great Anders!.

The beige car sounds interesting...do you know if any more of the W-cars in Sweden other than that red '70 in the first pic are 2Dr. Sedans?.

Nice ragtops in the second pic but those models remind me of the famous George Castanza pics...where's all the beautiful blonde Swedish girls gone?.

I have info on 4 1971 w-30 converts in either Norway or Sweden. One of the cars with a 200KPH speedo was purportedly sold new in Norway. I have info on one of the cars in these photos, its the one with Sienna paint.
A fellow named Arnstein Johansen from Norway sent me extensive info about 3 years ago.
I keep a data base of the 1971 442 W-30 converts. At present I have ino on 75 of the 110 cars built.

I have always admired W-30 cars but never really learned much about them. And this article doesn´t give much information about any specific car in the collection. They all more or less seem to be "drivers", like my COPO.
Ulf bought his first 442 in 1984, but hurt the engine with his heavy right foot. So he ended up selling the car, but soon realized his mistake. So he bought another one and hasn´t sold one since.

This is Pierre Becker also in Sweden who races this real thing 1971 442 W30 that was restored by Greg Godon a few years back. It uses a Nascar 350 small block Olds stroker and is very fast.

Pierre is an Olds fanatic also and comes over to the U.S. to visit and party with the serious Olds racers twice a year and just returned home after the Olds Nationals in Norwalk and a visit to many of his friends' places around the country. This year he was with the Hunt family in Alabama (fastest Olds powered car in the world (twin turbo dragster)) and taught them how to really catch bass. He also comes over to the Iowa bash in February which is becoming the center of Olds racing rapidly. He has a 69 442 and a 68 442 conv also. He usually drives someone's car at Norwalk who can't drive at the moment or make the meet.

Pierre goes by the screen name Olds Power on www.realoldspower.com and can be reached there with a PM. Tell him I said Hi.

Interestingly, for all those Norwegian cars, I know of an American car ordered by a Norwegian in the country's colors of blue and gold. This was the Stohlman car that was restored to blue and white.
